Ho ho ho! Get ready for a gingerbread extravaganza with this free printable Roll & Decorate game! It’s a perfect activity for families and friends to enjoy together, spreading Christmas cheer and fostering creativity throughout the holiday season.
The game is easy to assemble and play and perfectly portable to take to Grandma’s house or wherever you may be this holiday season. To play you simply need to print out and cut out the pieces and assemble the die. For best results, I recommended printing on cardstock or heavyweight paper and to use a color printer.
Supplies Needed
- Cardstock to print the free gingerbread cutouts and accessories available below
- Scissors
- Tape to assemble the die (or you can use a glue stick)
How to Play
- Prepare your canvases: Each player chooses a plain gingerbread cutout and places it in front of them. Arrange the decorating pieces within easy reach for all players.
- Roll for fun: Take turns rolling the die. The number you land on determines the accessory you get to add to your gingerbread person!
- Decorate with joy: Match the rolled number to the corresponding accessory and unleash your creativity. Add a face, a festive hat, a cozy scarf or bowtie, and don’t forget the buttons! If someone already has that particular accessory on their gingerbread person then you have to wait until your next turn to try rolling again.
- First to finish, wins the bragging rights: The player who completes their gingerbread person with all the required elements – face, hat, scarf/bowtie, and buttons – is crowned the gingerbread decorating champion!
Variations
- Free-flowing creativity: Allow players to decorate their gingerbread person piece by piece, regardless of the number rolled. Each roll grants them a new accessory to add, encouraging a continuous and imaginative decorating experience.
- Add a twist of competition: Instead of the “lose a turn” option, you can replace it with a “steal”, allowing players to steal an accessory from another player when they roll that number.
