February is an exciting month with a lot going on. We have holidays like Valentine’s Day, President’s Day and Groundhog Day. It’s also Black History Month and one you may not have known about… National Children’s Dental Health Month.
Each year, the American Dental Association (ADA) sponsors National Children’s Dental Health Month in an effort to raise awareness about the importance of oral health. Developing good habits at an early age and scheduling regular dental visits is important to start children on the right track for a lifetime of healthy teeth and gums. This February, the theme is “Rock Your Smile.”
To help you and your kids to “Rock Your Smile,” The Jim Henson Company is partnering with Sunstar Americas, Inc., who has just launched brand new Dinosaur Train themed toothbrushes! Buddy and Tiny are featured on a new GUM® twin pack toothbrush set aimed to making brushing fun for young children. They are available this spring at Meijer, H-E-B, and online at Gumbrand.com.
To see Buddy learning about his teeth, check out Dinosaur Train on March 1 on PBS KIDS to watch the “T-Rex Teeth” episode (check your local listings for times) and visit PBSKids.org to watch Dr. Scott, the host of Dinosaur Train, tell us all about the teeth of the Tyrannosaurus and other carnivores, like sharks. Both sharks and Tyrannosaurus’ lose their teeth, but those teeth are always replaced by new teeth. Humans only get two sets of teeth, so it’s important to take good care of them!
